POTTSVILLE (January 8)- The Schuylkill County Young Republican have elected a new leader in Pottsville resident and Republicam State Committeeman Scott Thomas. Thomas will lead the organization throughout 2009, and has proposed an aggressive agenda to grow the organization and become more active in party affairs.
The group also elected Megan DeAngelo as Secretary. Chairman Thomas also made appointments to the organizations board of directors, including Brad Gotshall of Frackville, Joe Sterns of Deer Lake, Doug Litwhiler of Shenandoah Heights and Rob Heffner of Pottsville. “I am confident that this slate of officers will help grow this group as well as the Republican Party,” Thomas said.
Also during the meeting the new chairman pledged the organizations wholehearted support for Rep. Dave Argall as he pursues the vacant senate seat vacated by the death of the late Senator James J Rhoades.
Chairman Thomas is the founder and former chairman of the Schuylkill County Teenage Republicans. This past April he overcame the odds as he was elected overwhelmingly to the Republican State Committee, being the youngest to hold the position. In July he was appointed to the Executive board to the State Young Republicans.
